AJ Partners with Sesame in Communities

NADCP’s Advancing Justice has partnered with Sesame Workshop’s Sesame in Communities to connect justice and treatment professionals with Sesame’s exceptional and trusted educational content.

Sesame Street in Communities (SSIC) is rooted in Sesame’s decades of proven success in developing resources that makes a measurable difference in helping parents and caregivers develop the core attitudes, knowledge, and behaviors that are critically important to ensure that every child – especially those who are most at risk – can succeed in school and in life.

Many participants in treatment courts have families, and very often, young children.  In partnering with Sesame Workshop, Advancing Justice will help families coping with persistent trauma or stressors better understand and nurture young children’s evolving developmental needs.

Advancing Justice and Sesame Workshop will integrate SSIC’s research-based resources into curriculum offered through NADCP’s divisions The National Drug Court Institute, National Center for DWI Courts and Justice For Vets so they can reach children and parents with resources specifically designed to help children impacted by issues such as addiction, mental health, and justice involvement.

Training will be introduced in 2018. In the meantime, we encourage you to visit Sesame in Communities online where you can access a wealth of information on topics including resilience, traumatic experiences, and handling emergencies.
